Pretty sure I lost my soul a few times on a sand dune, but i somehow managed to pull off a good performance.  Tomorrow is a bit longer and them day 5 is the Long March.  I’m feeling pretty good but may hold back a bit tomorrow to save energy for day 5 but ill see if that happens.  The scenery out here is pretty awesome and despite being exhausted, im really glad to be here in such a beautiful place.  Thanks everyone for the nice messages and comments.

Day 2 is complete!  I definitely felt much better today than yesterday.  I was able to get a bit more sleep so i think that helped.  It was slow going to start, with several km through slot canyons and back and forth river crossings followed by a never ending uphill climb.  We got quite an experience though after all that uphill we got to run done a GIANT sand dune.  The pictures will hopefully get posted tonight.  It was absolutely epic!  After the last checkpoint, we had about 7.5 miles to go and I somehow caught a second wind and managed to really push hard to the finish.  I am not sure what my my standing is for today but im pretty sure its better than yesterday haha.  Most people are beat but i am actually feeling pretty good. I think im just leaning into the pain at this point but there’s a lot more pain to come, hopefully i can handle it.

That was hard, really really hard. The altitude and the heat along with difficult terrain and a pack at almost full weight made for quite a challenging Day 1.  I felt pretty good until about the last 5k when the sun was blazing and it was almost all uphill. My left should is it quite swollen from my pack so im hoping to eat through some weight tonight and get rid of any gear that isnt absoultely essential.  A few hours ago i never thought id say this but im looking forward to tomorrow. The people here, competitors and volunteers, are so far making this painful experience a good time. We'll see if i say this after tomorrow haha.

Gear check complete! My bag came in at 9kg which was what I was hoping for. It seems like a lot but I trained with weight often and each day it will get lighter as I eat through my food and electrolytes. I barely slept last night due to nerves so I'm hoping I'll at least get a good nights sleep tonight before stage 1.
